Fantastic story.

Wow. This is exactly what I needed to hear tonight. I just posted something about some big problems we're facing with Ben's daughter. I feel silly now. I guess I'd have to say that I've been the egg first, then the carrot but I REALLY want to be the coffe bean! lol

Very good post, Marie. Thank You!!!!!

powerful reminder. thanks.
I've been getting emails at work the last couple of weeks about this upcoming presentation at work. It's by this same guy! In the DVD form, though. I don't know if I'll be able to go, but what a coincidence.

I heard this before but its always nice to be reminded of it from time to time. Today was one of those times I needed the reminder. Thanks.

I like your moms story. You have a knack for posting these inspirational stories.

Was it you that posted this one (I kept it to pass along to my kids):

Life isn't about keeping score.

It's not about how many friends you have.

Or how accepted you are.

Not about if you have plans this weekend or if you are alone.

It isn't about who you're dating, who you used to date,

or how many people you've dated, or if you haven't been with anyone at all.

It isn't about who you have kissed. It's not about sex.

It isn't about who your family is or how much money they have,

or what kind of car you drive, or where you went to school.

It's not about how beautiful or ugly you are, or what clothes you wear,

what shoes you have on, or what kind of music you listen to.

It's not about if your hair is blonde, red, black, or brown.

Or if your skin is too light or too dark.

Not about what grades you get, how smart you are,

how smart everybody else thinks you are,

or how smart standardized tests say you are.

It's not about what clubs you're in or how good you are at "your" sport.

It's not about representing your whole being on a piece of paper

and seeing who will "accept the written you."

But, life is about who you love and who you hurt.

It's about who you make happy or unhappy purposefully.

It's about keeping or betraying trust.

It's about friendship, used as a sanctity or a weapon.

It's about what you say and mean, maybe hurtful, maybe heartening.

About starting rumors and contributing to petty gossip.

It's about what judgments you pass and why.

And who your judgments are spread to.

It's about who you've ignored with full control and intention.

It's about jealousy, fear, ignorance, and revenge.

It's about carrying inner hate and love, letting it grow, and spreading it.

But most of all, it's about using your life to touch or poison other people's hearts

in such a way that could have never occurred alone.

Only you choose the way those hearts are affected,

and those choices are what life's all about.

beautiful story, thanks for sharing, and I have been listening to Randy for a while now, and he truly is an inspiration. it's sad that people need hardship to wake up, and I love how the message is to wake up now, now now! :)
I really felt that, good one honey!
Things have been so hard on me lately. But this post made my day today. I am the carrot. I seemed to be so strong from the outside, but then with adversity, i become weak and lose my strength. But i know eventually i will become the coffee bean who will make a difference one day.

I loved the Pausch Last Lecture. It quite inspired me!
I do count my problems - definately. Then when I realize that they could be so much worse, I just add them to my blessings.

I watched the whole Pausch lecture last week....so inspiring and what a wonderful attitude!!

And the carrots, eggs, and coffee beans story is one of my favourites...thanks for posting it! :)

What an inspiration Pausch is! Thanks for posting the carrot and egg story - makes perfect sense. I'm going to be a coffee bean when I grow up.

I am sure that we all can learn alot from this story. We all deal differently to circumstances of life. However we have to be strong and endure till the end...

I stumbled on this the first few days I was on here, but I didn't know what the whole ettiquette was with commenting and neighbours and stuff. But I loved this story! Unfortunately I think I'm an egg, inside a carrot... but I'm hoping I get dunked into a cup of coffee sometime soon! =D

The only etiquette on this blog is ...make yourself at home. You are always welcome here! :-)

Glad to meet you!
